Heavily influenced by such flagship techno parties as those held in past haunts like Traffic, Wax or McGruders, ColorTv soldier on determined to ‘keep her lit’ through these slightly more challenging times. One thing remains the same though and that is people want to party. And if by throwing these memorable parties ColorTv are seen to be ‘Doing Our Bit’ then we’re only too happy to do so.

Glasgow’s Gary Beck personifies any young producer’s dream. Releasing records only since 2005 Gary has grown to become a hugely sought after DJ, producer and now remixer invited to give his personal touch to releases from Christian Smith, Phil Kieran, Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Mark Broom, Speedy J and Slam to name but a few
Gary was recognized as one to watch releasing ‘Consumed’ on Hawtin’s Minus label in 2008 which automatically pushed him into the upper echelons of the techno world, now sitting proudly on the revered Soma imprint. It seems at the moment everyone wants a bit of Gary’s cake!

Whats most important to us however, is Gary Beck’s music is perfectly fitting with what ColorTv do, and his pulsating yet damn-right funky techno will completely ice the ColorTv faithful in the Basement this coming 5th February, we promise you this.

Gary is joined by ColorTv residents Liam Prendiville and Frederic.

The Lady Doth Protest Too Much, Methinks

In the aftermath of the silly season, that is Christmas and New Years Eve, and while still reeling from a mammoth 2010, we see nothing more obvious than to grab that baton with refreshed drive and begin founding what we hope will be another defining year for ColorTv.
We’ve a lot to live up to by our own standards……

2010 saw us celebrate our second year on Dublin’s dance scene, and since the show evolved from a random party in a small Dame Street pub, we’ve come along way and we’ll be the first to admit it.
There’s many ways we can remember 2010, we’ve been able to do a lot of the things many young promoters only dream of, and trust us we’ve been that young penniless promoter. We’ve had Tim Xavier, Alexi Delano, Monica Kruse & Camea to mention a few, headlined small festivals, organised mixes for radio shows across Europe and most importantly built many fantastic friendships!
However the core to our success are the people, performers and friends who love what we do and always come back, and thats what keeps us driving to do it again in our third year, but incorporating those necessary differences.
We want you dancing, we want you talking, so without further ado we present WHITE NOISE

Saturday January 15th marks our entry into 2011, which will be a fresh and vivid start to what can only be a prosperous year.
As a venue the Twisted Pepper gives us the freedom to try new things and we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do just that with White Noise. We’ve put together a Micro Festival where performances involved will range from Folk Band music to our Techno and House residents. Each room will have its own visual dynamic and after banging our heads against the wall, literally, we’ve come up with a way to incorporate visuals in the Basement. Darragh Foy will explain the maths, we don’t know really how it works!

The Basement will give comfort for those of you who have been deprived of melodic foot stomping over the past fortnight, we’re only too happy to help shake off the cobwebs. Our regular Dj’s Con & Cian, Liam Prendiville, Frederic & Steve Donaldson are joined on the night by Pogo mainstay Barry Redsetta!

The Box takes music a little left of centre with a more electro and breaks attitude with good friends of ColorTv; Taper Jinx (Eoin Smith), T-Face (Conor O’Hanlon) plus Special guests.

As before mentioned, we’ve been given a creative freedom somewhat so we’ve decided to enrol a contemporary Folk Band named ‘The Palace Band’. They’ve been drawing a crowed to the inner reaches of The Palace Bar on Fleet Street for over a year now so when we thought of The Café, we looked no further. Expect infectious enthusiasm from lead singer Damo and box drummer Mike as they sway briskly through a set list of covers and their own riotous tracks. Aido & Gaz will take things on from there with some 80’s electro & synthpop, think Duran Duran and Depeche Mode remixes and you’re on the right track!

So if like us over Christmas you’ve had neighbours complaining about the noise ‘The Lady Doth Protest Too Much’ you can make as much Noise as you want, we don’t mind.

YEAR 2!! Done and Done

HAPPY BLOODY CHRISTMAS

Midnight Mass (ii)
Many people are probably delighted that such a year has finally come to an end; it’s been tough on many fronts. Something as essentially unimportant as a clubnight would be sidelined you’d expect, yet for ColorTv the past few months have been our most memorable. For that very reason we are eternally grateful to you for choosing our night and dancing like crazies even on that freezing, ice-enamelled night when C…amea came to town, it was truly immense. Amen.

17th December we take or band of merry men and women to the Pod for a high-spirited end of year smash-up!! Expect a night of smoothest techno and house executed in fine yuletide fashion from some of Dublin’s finest djs, we do hope you take some time off to reflect on the year, enjoy a tipple and dance the night away with us, we very much enjoy your company!

Signing off ColorTv’s 2010 will be Electric City’s Giles Armstrong. This will be Giles’s second outing under the ColorTv banner ,and for those who were present at the Man o War in September you’ll know there is definitely some unfinished business here. Giles needs little introduction and has been commanding techno parties of the highest quality regularly since his days with one of Ireland’s most respected techno collectives, Electric City.

Come and join us.

BACK TO POD – NOVEMBER 19TH!!!

Posted: November 15, 2010 in Uncategorized

Monika Kruse returned to Berlin almost shell-shocked from what erupted at the Twisted Pepper last week. It’s a set that will be remembered for 2010 and the best news is we’re only a short a date for next year!

This Friday night we drop back to the Pod for a full-on homegrown party, the essence of what ColorTv is. These are the nights when we unleash pandemonium and behave the way we behave, God damn badly.

One of the best performe…rs to evolve from ColorTv, Liam Prendiville, heads tonight’s cast with the strain of dark, brooding techno that quickly set him apart from a busy network of the City’s newcomers. An understanding and love for quality music clearly resounds in his mixes, only recently introducing the likes of St.Germain to a live sets…

Supporting, the young Steve Donaldson (Live) extracts home-made beats and loops from his various machines. Steve’s live set for us earlier in the year at the now defunct, Wax, was nothing short of awesome, so don’t miss this rare appearance.

Following the submission of a few very cleverly constructed mixes with some mature artists choices, the young Darren Whelan is our guest on this occasion and ColorTv mainstay, Frederic, kicks off at 11pm for what heralds our start to the silly season!

The day has come… Monika Kruse

Posted: October 12, 2010 in Uncategorized

A reputable Dublin dj/promoter told us recently that club promotion is as much gambling as it is a profession , which makes sense we suppose. To put all our efforts (finances) into such a night as this is taking a chance but we are determined the result will be a memorable party not forgotten for a long time, which is why we do it in the first place.

Monika Kruse is legendary in the world of main stage techno djs, regularly spinning at all of the mecca’s of techno from Berghain to the Love Parade to Ibiza, and we are very proud to get this opportunity to see her grace our stage on this very special night. House, techno, tech-house, whatever you want to call it, she plays quality music and plays it so, so well.

A recent guest of ours also described her as a ‘sweetheart’ too, so already she is a true darling of ColorTv.

So, get to

and Enjoy yourself

September 17th 2010 has become an important date in our short but eventful history! A nervously exciting move to the larger Pod venue proved a perfect success; a packed floor, top notch performances and the most ‘up for it’ atmosphere we have seen in a club yet, a night that won’t be forgotten.
So before we proceed, we wish to thank all fans, new faces and djs alike for partying with us on that special occasion.

To the now.
Chilean born, Swedish raised and New York based techno minimalist, Alexi Delano (Clink/Plus8/ADLT recs), lands on our shores on October 8th leading the cast of this season’s bookings.

Alexi Delano dwells in the perfect balance between shiny minimalism and dark vivacious techno. With more than two decades on stage he has been able to combine different roots and facets of the contemporary music scale.

Our first year, over and done, was a fun-filled fantabulously banging ride, best fun we’ve ever had, and we like to think we’ve actually learned something too…

Now, this mightn’t sound like fun, but its time to get serious.

Tim Xavier’s booming first birthday set signed off the year and signalled ColorTv’s entry into a realm of very credible artist bookings.
Continuing with our monthly nights, we are currently ironing out minor details with the venue and, once agreed, will release our plans for the next few months which include some very JUICY bookings.
That said, our mission to bring local/upcoming talent to the ColorTv stage will remain an essential, so djs, lets have you~??

Til very soon
Ctv

Believe it or snot, it’s only been a month since the last mission at PKS… We’re all fired up and ready to burn some more, and got plenty of musical BOMBSHELLS lined up to do so.

This week we’re in Wax, that grimey grungey dogs boll*x of a venue on South William St. It’s all residents this time, a night we’ve wanted for a long time now. So it will be interesting to see if we is got what it takes?!

We’re sure it’ll be a neat affair.

Color TV WAX

DJs on the night are Aido (ColorTV newbie), then Taper Jinx, Louis Hopkins and Frederic. All are looking after the musak so variety is guaranteed. Hope to see some of you down there as we taking this as a warm up gig for that top notch mini-festival next week, the Yes Festival!!!

TAKE IT!?!  and with ease!

ColorTV is on the move. We need a new home. Peadar Kearney’s rocked and rolled but it’s time to move out in to the big bad world. Because when you are through changing, you are through.

But the question is this… where to? And that kids is all to play for. As we speak discussions are taking place in smoky boardrooms to find out the new home for the zeitgeist catcher that is ColorTV. The choices, oh the choices.

So stay tuned for an update real soon. ColorTV is movin on up. It’s time to grow. It’s been deadly so far, let’s make it even better.  We hope you’ll join us.
